about

The interest of Avitsur in the brass instruments goes with him all along his career. It developed from his contacts with brass players that triggered him to experiment the diverse expression possibilities, mainly those that were not so common in classical music. The works presented here are for brass quintet and brass sextet. The first brass quintet was composed in 1985 and the second in 2007. The arrangements for the sextet were written in 1997 following a commission of the composer's son, Haim (playing in this CD) for a special concert he arranged in New York.
